00 News & Updates, 2017 Noises Off

Tickets on Sale for “Noises Off”

noises-off-graphic

Union Street Players, Pella’s award-winning community theatre, along with Director Denise Gregory, are excited to announce that tickets for our spring production, Noises Off, are now on sale.

Noises Off is a play within a play. It is about an ambitious director and his troupe of mediocre actors. The cast and crew are putting  together a silly  comedy titled, “Nothing On” – a  single-set farce  in which lovers frolic, doors slam, clothes  are tossed  away, and embarrassing hi-jinks ensue.  If you have never experienced theater as an actor or a crew member, then perhaps Noises Off is simply an  entertaining show with a lot of laughs. However, for those of us who “tread the boards,” Michael Frayn’s  Noises Off might very well be  the funniest  play ever written. Show length is 90 minutes.

All performances of Noises Off will be on the stage of the Joan Kuyper Farver Auditorium in the Pella Community Center, 712 Union St.

Thu Mar 30 @ 7:00 p.m.
Fri Mar 31 @ 7:00 p.m.
Sat April 1 @ 7:00 p.m.
Sun April 2 @ 2:00 p.m.

All tickets are sold online. If you need assistance or need to make alternative arrangements, please contact our Box Office at 641-204-1094.

Make it a fun date night by purchasing tickets for Noises Off, taking your tickets or an ad from George’s Pizza and/or the The Cellar Peanut Pub (Pella location) to either or one of these awesome businesses to get a $1 off of a large pizza from George’s and/or $1 off a drink at The Cellar Peanut Pub (Pella location).

2011 Vintage Hitchcock

Get Tickets for USP’s “Vintage Hitchcock”

Tickets are on sale now for the Union Street Players’ March production of Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play.  It promises to be thrilling and fun for the whole family.  Spies, murder, love, and other trademarks of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic thrillers come to life in the style of a 1940s radio broadcast. A triple feature of the master of suspense’s early films, The Lodger, Sabotage and The 39 Steps, Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play comes complete with vintage commercials, a daring train chase, a serial killer’s ominous presence, and a devastating explosion through the magic of live sound effects and musical underscoring.

As the show’s director, Pat Moriarity, explains, “This is going to be fun show for our audience members. They will see some of the best actors in the area on stage using different voices for their characters.  Plus you will see all of the sound personnel on stage creating the live sound effects.  There are squeaking doors, birds, donkeys, an explosion, telephones and a lot more.  Nothing is recorded.  This will beckon back to the days of yesteryear when radio shows were the sole form of entertainment.  It is similar to the live radio plays heard on public radio’s popular show A Prairie Home Companion.”

Performances will be; Thursday March 10 at 7:00 p.m, Friday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. and a Sunday matinee on March 13 at 2:00 p.m.  Tickets may be purchased in person at the Pella Community Services Office in the Pella Community Center M-F 7:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Tickets may also be purchased by phone using a valid credit card (Visa, Master Card, Discover) by calling Tom or Wendy Vander Well at 641-620-9107.

In the cast are Kelly Anderson, Jana De Zwarte, Beverly Graves, Jonathon Gregg, Phil Hoole, Mark Moreland, Nancy Moreland, Lisa Morgan, Sandy Olsthoorn, Tyler Rezapour, Jacob Rosdail, Paul  Scott, Michael Still, Tom Vander Well, Wendy Vander Well, Arvin Van Zante, Spence Ver Meer , and Alexander Wei.

The show is directed by Pat Moriarity with assistance from Marty Feeney.  Assisting on the production team are Arvin Van Zante, Cody Kooi, Peggy Moriarity, Nancy Moreland, Anne McCullough Kelly and Mat Kelly.  The Union Street Players are sponsored by the Pella Community Center.
