Union Street Players, Pella’s Award-winning community theatre, is excited to announce auditions for our summer musical: Fiddler on the Roof. USP brings this Broadway classic to the Pella stage for the second time. Set in the Pale of Imperial Russia in 1905, it is based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Dairyman) and other tales by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. He must cope both with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters—each one’s choice of husband moves further away from the customs of his faith—and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village. Come sing along with timeless classics like Sunrise, Sunset, Tradition, and If I Were a Rich Man.
No experience is necessary and no roles are pre-cast. Union Street Players welcomes everyone to audition. Those wishing to be considered for a solo role are asked to bring a prepared song, with a copy for the pianist.
Fiddler on the Roof will be directed by Arvin Van Zante and you can direct any questions to him at 641-628-1890 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
