It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Dottie McGee, and with it our irreparable loss. It was reported to us late last evening (May 13, 2014) that Dottie suffered a heart attack in her home late in the afternoon. She was taken to PRHC and died a short time later. Dottie was a founding member of Union Street Players and one of the original inductees of UPS’s Walk of Fame. She had an intense passion for costuming. In USP’s early years, Dottie began stockpiling costumes from, and for, USP productions in her home attic. Eventually, USP rented space for Dottie to move the costumes into the USP Costume Shop which Dottie has voluntarily managed and run for many years motivated by her love and passion for it. In recent years, Dottie has been employed by Central College’s Theatre Central and has helped costume many shows there. Dottie was also a talented performer and is, perhaps, best known for the one act I’m Herbert which she and fellow USP Walk of Fame member Arvin Van Zante have performed numerous times over the years.
The entire USP family extends to Mike, Ashley, and all of the McGee family our heartfelt condolences.
