Many audience members of Union Street Players have seen Madison Vander Well on stage, but her return in Tulip House is the first chance most audience members will have had to actually hear her. That’s because Madison’s debut with USP was playing "The Mute" in the 2005 summer musical, The Fantasticks.
In Tulip House, Madison plays the role of Amber Sutton, an angry teen-ager who is forced to participate in a reality TV show with her parents (played by her real-life dad and step-mom, Tom and Wendy Vander Well). Amber must give up her cell phone and modern conveniences to live ("in antique underwear") as a teen in 1935 Pella.
Madison, a Freshman at Pella High School, began acting in commercials when she was very young, and continued to perform in several school productions. Her love of singing has led her, of late, to spend her time and energy in the PHS Dutch Divas and the high school worship team at Third Church. She is also running track this season.
In addition to her school and community activities, Madison’s heart and faith in Christ has led her to serve others globally. She spent a month of her summer last year on a Global Expedition’s mission project working in orphanages, schools and villages in Thailand. This summer she embarks on two mission trips to Baja, Mexico and Costa Rica.
