Union Street Players (USP), Pella’s award winning community theater, began in 1987 with a small group of interested individuals who produced short pieces for the community’s summertime “Thursdays on the Square.” The group was incorporated as a non-profit organization in January 1989. Since that time, USP has been dedicated to providing quality theatrical entertainment for Pella and our surrounding communities, and is proud to have been awarded the designation “Best Performing Group in Marion County” for several years and has received several awards for outstanding performances by the Iowa Association of Community Theatres.
Each year USP produces three productions on our home stage, the Joan Kuyper Farver auditorium in the Pella Community Center. Our season generally includes:
- a Winter/Spring production (Feb/Mar)
- a Summer production (Jul/Aug)
- a Holiday production (Nov/Dec)
